Same-sex marriage in Taiwan
Article Evaluation: There is much detailed information there. However, it needs to add information on issues in the law before it is revised. Before the legal revisions, the legalization of same-sex marriage further highlighted disparities between same-sex and opposite-sex marriages. One issue was that same-sex couples aiming for international marriage were unable to marry if their partner's country did not recognize same-sex marriage. Another issue was that same-sex couples were excluded from the Civil Code, leaving them without legal recourse against abuse from in-laws. A third issue was that in cases of same-sex marriage, couples were only allowed to adopt a child if the child was the biological offspring of one partner. These three issues left many LGBT couples struggling despite celebrating the legalization of same-sex marriage.
