Below is the practice project on evaluating wikipedia articles.

Information Privacy

[edit]

Evaluation notes on the article Information Privacy:

  • the information they provided sounds appealing, but I couldn't find any references to the information they have provided under financial information types.
    • maybe a short description or a link to an article where people's financial privacy is violated could be helpful
  • In the paragraph legality, maybe they could have added a sentence or two on how issues may arise from each of the sources listed
  • Under Protection of privacy in information systems, maybe a link to what P3P, XAMCL are could be helpful
    • under the same section maybe the paragraph, protecting privacy on the internet, can be eliminated since it was discussed earlier in the Internet information types
  • I personally found it hard to keep track of the topics discussed in the paragraph, United States Safe Harbor program and passenger name record issues. Not sure if it is just me but maybe it could be improved by breaking this down into sub sections?
  • there are many discussions going on in their talk page and this article is considered of high important but C class as of now
    • content deleted because of it violating the neutral point of view policy which we discussed in the wikipedia policies training
    • discussion about adding different things in the article
    • pointing out grammatical mistakes in naming the topic
    • analysis of which term is searched the most and plan accordingly to make it easier to find the article
    • conflict in naming.
    • Whether or not to combine it with another existing article.
    • missing sources
    • wording of the sentences
    • things that can be added to improve the content of the article

Phone surveillance

[edit]

Evaluation notes on the article Phone surveillance.

  • I feel that the article is concise however it lacks many different viewpoints
  • the second paragraph sounds appealing however there is no cited source for fact-checking
  • Source cited for the paragraph, Phone surveillance software, doesn't look reliable
  • This article is rated Start-Class on the WikiProject Telecommunication's quality scale and there aren't any discussion going on.

Why I selected the article: Mail Isolation Control and Tracking

[edit]

During this pandemic and in general, online shopping has become vastly popular. We are able to get packages delivered right in-front of our door on a click of a button, however, with great service also comes with great risks of privacy as all the data including but not limited to our phone numbers and addresses are stored in the computer databases which can be accessed easily. I have decided to contribute to this article because I couldn't find much information on wikipedia that discussed this issue and the closest I found was this article which doesn't have much content and I feel I can improve it. As of now, I am planning on adding a risk of privacy/security section under this article, but I am sure as I research more on this topic, I will be able to come up with other ideas to be able to make this article better.
