Rama Akkiraju is a Computer Scientist at IBM Research, Almaden, United States. She has been featured as one of the Top 20 Women in AI Research in 2017 ^[1].

Education

Akkiraju completed her Masters degree in Computer Science at the Utah State University in 1995 with a thesis on heuristic techniques. She also has an MBA from the New York University Stern School of Business, and a B Tech (1993) from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.

Career

Akkiraju has been working on agent-based decision support systems, electronic marketplaces, and business process integration technologies ^[2].

Akkiraju led an World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) standard in the area of Semantic web service - Semantic Annotations for Web Services Description Language (SA_WSDL).

Research

She is leading the Artificial Intelligence (AI) Operations mission at IBM Watson group.
