Adnan Bashir (also known as DJ Aadi) is a Pakistani-American data scientist, machine learning engineer, and electronic music DJ and producer. He is recognized for his work in real-time data stream analysis, anomaly detection, and for releasing several electronic music mixes under the name DJ Aadi on SoundCloud.
Early life and education
[edit]Adnan Bashir was born in Pakistan. He earned a B.E. in Electronics Engineering from the National University of Science & Technology (NUST), Pakistan in 2012. He later moved to the United States, completing an M.S. (2016) and Ph.D. (expected 2025) in Computer Science at the University of New Mexico, with a focus on machine learning and real-time anomaly detection.
Career
[edit]Bashir is the Lead Data Steward at the Department of Workforce Solutions, State of New Mexico, where he designed and launched the DRIFT platform, integrating anomaly detection and compliance for large-scale data streams. At the University of New Mexico, he serves as a machine learning engineer and data scientist, leading projects in real-time change detection, time-series anomaly detection, and smart grid data management. His work includes the development of frameworks such as DRUM (for regime shift detection in data streams) and research on explainable AI for time-series analysis.
He has also worked as a QA and business analyst at FireEye (now Trellix), focusing on malware analysis and quality assurance for cybersecurity products.
