Jagannadham Thunuguntla is Chief Strategist & Head of Research at SMC Global Securities Limited. And part of chief strategy team at SMC Group, responsible for framing strategies in growing the business. SMC is a financial services company with 7,000 staff across 1,700 offices in over 400 cities throughout India. The company is active in equity research, investment banking, wealth management, asset management, portfolio management, distribution and broking.

Prior to his time at SMC, Jagannadham worked in the Financial Institutions Group at Morgan Stanley, where his responsibilities included helping clients identify acquisition and financing opportunities, developing the bank’s plans for optimizing its Tier 1 capital, and conducting long-term studies into cross-border consolidation trends and the impact of IFRS on the banking sector.

Jagannadham is a CA (with All India 3rd rank) and ICWA (with All India 1st rank), and a frequent speaker at business schools and in industry forums. He has also written several research papers and addressed the ministries of corporate affairs and of finance, of the government of India.

He has been invited by RBI to represent the industry views to Shri D. Subbarao (Governor, RBI) in the 2nd quarter review of the Monetary Policy 2010-11 and Smt. Usha Thorat and Shri Subir Gokarn (Deputy Governors, RBI) about the new Banking Licenses.

In addition Mr. Jagannadham is frequently quoted in the national and international press and interviewed by reputed radio and television channels including BBC London, Bloomberg – Asia Pacific, Bloomberg UTV, CNBC, CNBC Awaaz, NDTV Profit, Zee Business and ET Now.
