Arab Model Schools (Arabic: المدارس النموذجية العربية) is a private bilingual K–12 day school located in Amman, Jordan. It offers both the Jordanian Ministry of Education national curriculum and international programmes including IGCSE and the American High School Diploma track.

History

Arab Model Schools was founded in 1983 by Dr. Fathi Abu Arja, who continues to serve as the school’s Chief Executive Officer. The institution began as a small elementary school and gradually expanded to include all grade levels through Grade 12.[1] In 2008, the school introduced an international section offering the British IGCSE curriculum, followed by the launch of its American programme in 2019. The current principal is Lana Abu Arja.

Arab Model Schools offers two academic tracks:

National Programme

This track follows the Jordanian Ministry of Education curriculum from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Students complete the national Tawjīh examinations required for local university admission.

International Programme

The international section offers an English-based curriculum following international standards from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Beginning in Grade 9, students may choose between:

The school campus is located in Tla‘ Al-Ali, Amman. It includes academic buildings, computer and science laboratories, playgrounds, and athletic spaces. The school cafeteria, known as the Falcon Snack Station, serves students and staff during school hours.

Arab Model Schools enrolls approximately 1,000 students from over 25 nationalities. The majority of students hold Jordanian citizenship, followed by Iraqi and other Arab nationalities. The school employs over 160 teachers and staff members.[3][4]

Student life

Arab Model Schools promotes student leadership and community service through extracurricular programmes such as the Model United Nations (MUN) and the Model Arab League (MAL). The school also collaborates with organizations including the King Hussein Cancer Foundation and Tkiyet Um Ali in charitable and awareness events.[1]

Identity

The school’s official colours are green and yellow, and its mascot is the Falcon. The school’s motto is “Education for the Future.”
