About Me

[edit]

I'm trying to channel the time I waste every day on the internet into something marginally productive. I like to listen to music—I spend anywhere from 0.5-11 hours a day on spotify—I especially love music with lots of associated artwork and thought put into it. (i.e. Hayden Anhedönia's Ethel Cain character, Lorde's Melodrama). I do a lot of tone revisions, some copyediting, and when I'm feeling really motivated then I expand short articles.

Backstory

[edit]

I was born in a quiet Cleveland suburb, just down the road from the condo complex that my family and my cousins lived. It was cramped, but I was happy. Fast forward 8 years, we move to a much bigger house in a semi-rural part of Greater Cleveland. By now my dad switched from working at a franchise repair shop down the road from our home to a police officer (citing his reason for doing so as "god's calling"). As me and my siblings grew up and started to develop our own identities and interests, it led to more and more clashes with our dad. By the time I was in 6th grade, whatever patience and sympathy he had for us seemed to have had dried up. Around middle school was also when I started deconstructing everything about me; sexuality, gender norms, religion, politics, ect. This, the near constant arguments and fighting going on under our roof led me to be either anxious or depressed for the majority of middle school. Jumpcut to now—freshman year of high school—and I'm doing better, sort of. I'm pretty sure I have SAD, and my relationship with my mom is still strained (meanwhile my dad is almost a stranger to me). Earlier this year was a shitshow, so I'm just not gonna elaborate on it.
