Extentia is a global provider of offshore software development, custom software and application development services and is an IT services company based in Pune, India. The company’s interests are in technology, start-up consulting, innovation for mobility, cloud computing and design. [1]

History

Extentia was established in 1998 and is an Indo-German company founded by Umeed Kothavala (CEO, 1998- Present). [2]

Extentia is a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner offering technical solutions in Microsoft, Salesforce, cloud, mobile, and open source technologies. Extentia has over 350 associates with offices in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Singapore and Germany, and a primary development center in Pune, India. [3]

Extentia Mobile Development

Extentia Mobile Development develops applications for iOS, Andriod, Windows Phone, and cross-platform deployments. It offers consulting for mobile strategy and marketing. Several applications which iXtentia has developed are listed among the top 200 across various app stores. [4]

Extentia StartUp Consulting

Extentia StartUp Consulting assists startups, early stage companies and businesses in IT and related spaces. [5]

Extentia Usability Labs

Extentia Usability Labs is a research and usability testing lab that provides User Centered Design services for software products and systems. [6]

Techquarium

‘Techquarium' is Extentia’s platform to demonstrate new technology devices such as wearables, mini-computers, motion controllers, 3D printers, and others. These are regularly scheduled sessions where gadgets are showcased and, audiences experiment with them. The intent is to promote innovation and workable ideas for these devices. ‘Techquarium’ is in line with Extentia’s technological expertise in the Internet of Things, augmented reality, wearables, and neuroscience. Internet of Things (IoT)

Extentia is a proponent of Internet of Things (IoT) devices and develops applications for them. These devices are demonstrated at several ‘Techquarium’ technology showcases. Typically these applications are designed to overcome everyday problems. [8]

x24 Hackathon

The company hosts hackathons where apps are developed from 'concept to pitch' over 24 hours. Participants are required to develop technology based solutions to real world problems. [9]

SOS Stay Safe (2014)

The SOS Stay safe application was runner up at the Manthan Awards in the 'E-Woman and Empowerment' category was developed by Extentia. It is one of their flagship applications. The app sends an emergency message, the user’s location, device battery level, and a recorded audio clip of the situation to a chosen contact when needed. [10] [11][12]

Easy Access (2015)

Extentia developed an application called Easy Access which helps the visually impaired to use touch screen cellphones.The app helps operate Android smartphone by voice feedback mechanism, text-to-speech trigger and swipe gestures. This application was launched by the National Association for the Blind (NAB), India in 2015. [13][14]

Aapro (Upcoming)

Extentia is currently developing an application called Aapro which will be launched in time for the Parsi New Year, 2016. The app founder Viraf Patel thinks it will serve as a dating tool, social network and directory for Parsis. It is being recognized as a Parsi proliferation effort. [15] [16] [17]
