Name "عولا" or "حولا" which pronounced as /'awla/ is a common name in Iraqi Kurdistan in some areas like "Raniyah" and "Qaladze", the origin for "عولا" or "حولا" is "عبدالله" "Abdulla" or "abdullah".

While the correct spelling "عبدالله" is seen everywhere in Kurdistan even in other parts in Iraq, but "حولا" or "عولا" is only seen a certain areas of Iraqi Kurdistan, exactly in "Bitwen" and "Pishdar"

The fact that the people in these area has this name in this form instead of the origin one is that when Iraqi government in the second half of twentieth century started to create personal identification for people in these areas-Bitwen and Pishdar- who had been living in villages near Iran-Iraq boarder Especially Qandil mountain villages, people there were neither able to speak or write in Arabic nor writing even in their mother language-Kurdish, so when they were asked their name by officers to create identification they just told the short name of theirselves as how they call each other in their daily life, and most Arabic officers from Iraq government weren't aware about that.

The story is same for several other names such as:

Which their correct spelling respectively is: محمد فاطمه خضر ابراهيم رابيعه عائشه محمد محمدأمين .
