Expo Passport game is way for event professionals to generate sponsor revenue during an expo at an event, trade show, or conference while also creating excitement among attendees to win prizes.
For event attendees, the goal is to visit all exhibitors that participate in the game. At each participating booth, the exhibitor would stamp the passport card as proof that the attendee has visited the booth. Alternatively, attendees may collect points by scanning a QR Code at the booth. Once all stamps or points have been collected, the attendee is included in a drawing for prizes. Prizes are often provided by the participating exhibitors in form of products or services or are purchased by the event organizer.
Implementation
[edit]Traditionally, event organizers printed a card or a piece of paper resembling a passport, where attendees collect the stamps at each participating booth they visited.
Today, meeting planners save costs using a digital method via their Conference app and only printing the QR codes at the different booths. Instead of collecting stamps, attendees use the app to scan a QR code displayed at the booth. This option is more sustainable as only a few QR codes are printed versus thousands of passport cards.
Benefits for Event Planners
[edit]Event planners can strategically use this type of game to:
- Increase engagement: attendees are excited about valuable prizes
- Generate revenue: exhibitors must pay to be included in the game
- Drive traffic: when including exhibitors in the far back or the edges, foot traffic increases and exhibitors have better opportunities for Lead retrieval
