Used in mathematics and computer graphics software, the Figment3D Surface Format is the proprietary file format used to represent parametric surfaces in The Figment3D Rendering System. It represents piecewise parametric curves (cubic), surfaces (bicubic), and volumes (tricubic) using Kochanek Bartels splines.

Surfaces in Figment3D are swept surfaces that combine a trajectory curve (spine) with a generator curve (slice) to sweep out surfaces that are then tessellated to arbitrary resolutions (normally, but not necessarily, in a grid).

Figment3D surfaces can be seamlessly connected to other Figment3D surfaces recursively, and the resulting model can be seamlessly dynamically tessellated.

The key advantages to Figment3D are simplicity and small memory footprint. The key disadvantage is that, while it can import and export OBJ, it cannot yet import models in b-rep (Boundary Representation).
