Sdkb, any progress on this? ProcrastinatingReader (talk) 10:01, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
ProcrastinatingReader, I'm planning to launch a proposal at the Village Pump to add it to a bunch of pages, but I'm waiting for this to be closed first, which may hopefully provide a precedent to make the welcome link less controversial.
For preparation, if you'd like to start, one major task is identifying the list of pages where this template should go and which simplified pages to map them to. This list might be a good starting point to build that. {{u|Sdkb}}talk 10:08, 29 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure "Are you new here?" is the right question. I'd suggest something like "Looking for a simpler explanation?" This isn't just being used for beginner stuff. It's also being used on highly-technical pages like Help:Archiving a talk page. I'd been editing for fifteen years when I wrote Help:Archiving (plain and simple) for my own use because the techier page was overwhelming. I'd probably added archives to at least dozens of pages by then. I was by no means new or a beginner, even at archiving. Valereee (talk) 10:26, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
