Template talk:Primary sources references section
Default formatting
[edit](pinging @Elli and @Queen of Hearts as users who created and majorly improved the template) finally saw this template for the first time, it is very helpful! I wish however that it used the plain dagger rather than the double dagger. in my own work, I have been using the dagger symbol a lot, since it takes priority over the doubled one and is more commonly used as a footnote marker, just after the asterisk (which can't be used here I believe). if others support this, I request that the articles that are using the double dagger be updated accordingly to use the new default instead, a short bot script could so that.
I would also remove or hide by default the line about the formatting (In the text these references are preceded by a double dagger (‡):), as I don't believe it is that important, but others may disagree. Juwan (talk) 00:06, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
- No strong opinion on the first bit. I'm not sure a change would be necessary since you can override it -- but maybe a dagger would be more semantically correct? As for the line I do think it's somewhat helpful, but again, no strong opinion. I'll leave any changes up to others. Elli (talk | contribs) 01:43, 23 April 2025 (UTC)
List-defined compatibility?
[edit]@Elli and @Queen of Hearts, I was wondering about the template's compatibility with the WP:LDR format of references—I could not get that to work on an article I was tweaking with recently. I assume at the present the template is not compatable with that refstyle, but would it be possible to make it so? Thanks the both of you for have brought this template into the world.
