Shouldn't this be devalued?

The way I see it, usage of this template denotes that there are two copies of the same picture, one on Commons and one on Wikipedia itself. If that is true, then shouldn't the admins be deleting all of these pictures and having them simply come from/point to Commons instead? The point of this template is to identify images on Wikipedia and the Commons which are the same, and have the same filenames, so that admins can delete the Wikipedia copy. ~MDD 46 96 03:46, 12 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
