Template talk:More sources

First comment

I'm seeing this template placed in lots and lots of articles, particularly at the top. For example, Benjamin Franklin. I feel that this non-specific usage is not helpful. In this particular example, the article has a good number of refs, not at the FA level, certainly, but perhaps not enough to merit an obtrusive banner at the top of the article. I think some serious discussions need to happen about when such a template is appropriate, because if it was placed with the stringency seen at Benjamin Franklin, it would probably be needed at 75% of all wikipedia articles, and therefore not very useful. This could pretty much be used on every non-FA article on Wikipedia (and quite a few FA's, too). Unless the article is actively being worked on and a particular editor needs assistance in finding sources, it really shouldn't be used. But that's just my two cents. Category:Articles lacking sources

I am probably going to be sorry I brought this up,(deep breath) ok, here goes. It would seem kind of pointless to use {{unreferenced}} for article with absolutely no references and {{More sources}} or {{Refimprove}} for those that are poorly sourced if they all place article in the same category. As it happens {{Refimprove}} puts articles into Category:Articles lacking reliable references, so perhaps Category:Articles lacking sources should be limited to {{unreferenced}} and everything else like {{primarysources}} should go to Category:Articles lacking reliable references.
