Suggest showing a sample template

[edit]

When visiting Template:Edit template-protected, I notice the template doesn't render at all. Might be worth getting it to display on that page so people can see what it looks like. Or alternatively, could put examples of both open and answered in the documentation. Thanks. –Novem Linguae (talk) 15:07, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 28 March 2025

[edit]

I think the |ans= parameter should not be mentioned when the template is set to |answered=yes or |ans=yes, because when that message is shown, it means the parameter has already been added. Also, it wastes valuable space for nothing. It's uncommon for the status of an edit request to be reverted, and giving two different parameter option is useless.  Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. —Of the universe (say hello) 23:06, 6 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I thought it was clear enough. When the template is set to |answered=yes or |ans=yes, I want to charge this part "Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter" to this: "Set the |answered= parameter" FaviFake (talk) 04:14, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Sometimes, The template does not display the answered= parameter in the source. It would simply be, {{edit extended-protected}} without the "answered" parameter. In these cases, editors have to manually add the parameter and some may prefer |ans= over the other one because it is more convienient. I think(not sure) this is the reason why both parameters are specified. Warriorglance(talk to me) 04:56, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@FaviFake This is purely from my experiance in answering edit requests. It may not be the correct reason. Warriorglance(talk to me) 05:00, 7 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]
