Proposal to add a designation for Town of North Hempstead Designated Landmarks
[edit]Proposal to add a designation for Town of North Hempstead Designated Landmarks. This is the third time I have asked, with nobody ever responding the first two times, despite the proposal meeting all of the required criteria.
- The register must be an official designation consisting of a reasonable number of sites. This is an official register, which has a total of 18 listed sites (here is the official page for the landmarks on the Town's website, with the number of sites and a linked PDF with the full list of designated sites).
- There must be an article about the register on Wikipedia. This register has a Wikipedia article (List of Town of North Hempstead Designated Landmarks) with an external link to the full list of designated sites.
- The register's scope must be identified. This register's scope covers a major New York municipality (the Town of North Hempstead) on Long Island (i.e.: United States – New York – North Hempstead). It includes buildings & structures, objects, and entire historic districts.
- Text and a color scheme must be chosen for the designation. The text should be "North Hempstead Designated Landmark". The register does not have an official color, but a gentle greenish-blue has long been associated with the town (for example, a great color for this designation is #B2E5CD ).
- Valid callnames must be chosen for the designation.
TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD DESIGNATED LANDMARK
, withNORTH HEMPSTEAD, NEW YORK
andNORTH HEMPSTEAD, NY
as fallback values.
Code to be added:
|TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD DESIGNATED LANDMARK|NORTH HEMPSTEAD, NEW YORK|NORTH HEMPSTEAD, NY = [[Town of North Hempstead Designated Landmarks]]
|TOWN OF NORTH HEMPSTEAD DESIGNATED LANDMARK|NORTH HEMPSTEAD, NEW YORK|NORTH HEMPSTEAD, NY = #B2E5CD
Thanks for considering the proposal.

Edit request 7 February 2025: Heritage New Zealand entries
[edit]![]() | This edit request has been answered. Set the |answered= or |ans= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
Description of suggested change: I'd like to propose adding some new(ish) categories listed by Heritage New Zealand. These categories are for places of major cultural significance to Māori, and larger areas of historic significance.
While we're at it, the Historic Places Trust has renamed themselves to be Heritage New Zealand, and there are some text-codes that do not map properly to colour-codes. For example, the colour
page has entries for NEW ZEALAND HISTORIC PLACES TRUST CATEGORY I
, etc, but is not included in the text
list. Similarly, NZ CATEGORY 1
is listed in the text
but not the colour
.
New categories:
- Wāhi Tapu and Wāhi Tapu Areas have 109 and 78 entries respectively.
- Wāhi Tūpuna has 23 entries.
- Historic Areas has 132 entries.
Proposed change to template code:

The supported designations docs would then need to be updated like so:
Designation | Bordered version | Scope | Count | Valid <designation> values (Callnames) |
---|---|---|---|---|
Heritage New Zealand – Category 1 | New Zealand | 1000> | Heritage New Zealand Category I; New Zealand Category I; NZ Category I; Heritage New Zealand Category 1; New Zealand Category 1; NZ Category 1 | |
Heritage New Zealand – Category 2 | New Zealand | 4000> | Heritage New Zealand Category II; New Zealand Category II; NZ Category II; Heritage New Zealand Category 2; New Zealand Category 2; NZ Category 2 | |
Heritage New Zealand – Wāhi Tapu | New Zealand | 100> | Heritage New Zealand Wahi tapu; New Zealand Wahi tapu; NZ Wahi tapu | |
Heritage New Zealand – Wāhi Tapu area | New Zealand | 50> | Heritage New Zealand Wahi tapu area; New Zealand Wahi tapu area; NZ Wahi tapu area | |
Heritage New Zealand – Wāhi Tūpuna | New Zealand | 20> | Heritage New Zealand Wahi tupuna; New Zealand Wahi tupuna; NZ Wahi tupuna | |
Heritage New Zealand – Historic Area | New Zealand | 100> | Heritage New Zealand Historic Area; New Zealand Historic Area; NZ Historic Area |
Notes:
- I have included the
NEW ZEALAND HISTORIC PLACES TRUST
callname prefix for backwards compatibility, but I think we should treat these as deprecated and therefore not include them in the documentation. - Most people are not familiar with how to type macrons, and while I think it would technically be ok to include macros in the callnames, I've opted to keep those ASCII as per the rest of the list. Macrons will be present in the rendered template.
- There is one additional Heritage New Zealand category: National Historic Landmark. There is only one of these however; the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. Therefore I have not included it because that does not even have its own article (yet). Perhaps if a second one is ever added, we should add it to this template.

Propose adding Scenic Sites (South Korea) as a designation. It meets all the criteria. 1. Reasonable number of sites 2. list article about it above ext official website listing all the entries
, 3. specific natural and man-made locations within South Korea
For color, I'll use the same color that other South Korean classifications use. These classifications do not overlap with each other so there shouldn't be an issue; i.e. the govt does not classify a single thing under multiple labels.

New section: Peru
[edit]I would like to propose that a new designation (Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación) be added to the already existing list. I believe it fits the criteria well enough:
- The register is handled by the Peruvian Ministry of Culture.
- The article can be accessed on the English Wikipedia here, and an external list can be accessed on the Spanish Wikipedia list article (divided by regions, i.e. the first-level administrative subdivisions of Peru).
- Only national (i.e. Peruvian) monuments may qualify (National/regional).
- Similar to the 'Culture of Peru' template, a dark red colour (such as #AD1519) should be appropriate.
- I don't believe 'Peru' has already been used as a callname.
Regarding the designation itself—Cultural heritage of the Nation (Patrimonio Cultural de la Nación)—and its organisation, it is as follows: (PDF: Page 30, Ch. 5–7, 9)
- Tangible Fixed Heritage (Patrimonio material inmueble)
- Tangible Movable Heritage (Patrimonio material mueble)
- Intanglible Heritage (Patrimonio inmaterial)
- Underwater Cultural Heritage (Patrimonio cultural subacuático)
- Documentary Heritage (Patrimonio documental)
- Industrial Heritage (Patrimonio documental)
I hope I'm understanding the technical part, which should be as follows:
|PERU|PER|PCN = #AD1519 (or any similar red colour)
I would like to nevertheless request technical assistance from an experienced template editor. AlejandroFC (talk) 22:07, 18 February 2025 (UTC)
