Purpose
[edit]What purpose does this template serve that is not served by Template:Category class? The only difference that I noticed was the automatic inclusion of a hatnote link to the WikiProject but that can and should be built into {{Category class}} itself. -- Black Falcon (talk) 15:32, 28 March 2012 (UTC)
- Could/should a flag be added to Module:Articles by quality, MSGJ? There are nearly 200 pages that link here. Aluxosm (talk) 23:08, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- What do you mean by a flag, precisely? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:11, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- @MSGJ: Sorry, I had CLI flags on the brain, I was wondering if should there be a parameter/option added to the module along the lines of
extended=truethat would add the Cat main template and also possibly Template:Maintenance category. A bot could then go through and replace this template with Template:Articles by Quality and the extended parameter. Aluxosm (talk) 10:38, 9 January 2025 (UTC)- Or perhaps it would be easier if the bot could just add {{cat main}} rather than making this module more complicated? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:14, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Good point, the Unix philosophy is the way 🕉️. Ooh, it's not a huge amount of pages and I've just started using JavaScript Wiki Browser, I'll see if I could do it. Aluxosm (talk) 14:07, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
Done: Templates replaced — see this example edit. Aluxosm (talk) 22:05, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Great! No parameters should not be needed in {{AbQ}} in most cases — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:23, 9 January 2025 (UTC)

- I've previously used Template:Category more instead of Template:Category main article (the template used here), but after looking at the source for 'Cat more' my vote (if this is added) is for 'Cat main' as it uses a readable Lua module. Aluxosm (talk) 23:36, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
- On this, it might also be beneficial to think about Template:Maintenance category; I saw/have seen it used on a load of categories which is why I added it here. Aluxosm (talk) 23:43, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
