Inconsistent
[change source]This template is inconsistent with that of the EN wiki and its own documentation. It seems that on the EN wiki {{archive}} and {{talkarchive}} were merged at some point. That merge has not taken place here, both templates here are out of sync with {{archive}} on the EN wiki, and confusingly the usage of {{archive}} here says that it's for non-talk pages only, yet it then goes on to say that it links to the top-level talk page, as demonstrated in the example.
I'll perhaps try tweaking this template, since it's currently not restricted to template editors/admins. However {{talkarchive}} is restricted to admins (should have been restricted to template editors to match EN wiki {{talkarchive}}) so I can't fully implement the changes necessary to bring things in sync. - I've tweaked
{{archive}}here to better match the EN wiki one. It's probably imperfect, since the EN wiki one is actually using some external module behind the scenes to generate the banner, which isn't available here, and there are small differences in output where it features in a talk page archive, vs. the template help page example. - Had they? I haven't compared the original text in both places. I was surprised to find so much inconsistency between templates here and on EN wiki, having assumed such templates would be universally identical except for text translation. With the wrong coloured box, erroneous documentation, and lacking the merge with
{{talkarchive}}, it seemed as though things here had simply been left behind, so I'm making an effort to fix that and get it updated. - I appreciate that this is 'simple' wiki, but the new wording from EN wiki seems simple enough to me. DiscreetParrot (talk) 01:48, 3 May 2025 (UTC)
