In addition to specific test cases that may be tested from this page, tests should also be performed in situ, that is, on live article pages using preview mode without saving. This is because all the tests above use positional param 2, the page name, because otherwise it would apply to this testcases page itself. But that doesn't test the path where optional parm 2 is not passed, so tests should also be run without optional param 2, by pasting them onto a live page, previewing the result with the Show preview button, and canceling out before saving. To find pages where you can test in situ, you can go to Category:Navigation pages. Click one of the pages in the Category, and paste one of the numbered tests there, minus param 2, and show preview. Another way to simulate an in situ test is by using Special:ExpandTemplates, and setting the Context Title field to one of the pages listed in the category. In addition, all the tests above use |
