Justice Department investigation
[edit]"This behavior led U.S. Department of Justice agents to investigate not only whether MCA was a monopoly breaking antitrust laws, but also its suspected connections to underworld criminal activities. This investigation continued for the next few decades."
Is that the best you can do? How about some detail? I'm currently reading "Reagan's America: Innocents at Home" by Garry Willis. It has a fair amount of detail on the investigation and on Reagan's inability to recall anything during his grand jury testimony.
Universal Studios, Inc. does not exist
[edit]Universal Studios, Inc. was known as Vivendi Universal Entertainment since 2000. It also became NBC Universal as a result of a merger with NBC in 2004. Akasakamoto (talk) 06:54, 25 November 2024 (UTC)
- See you are confused?! And NO! "Vivendi Universal" itself existed from 1995 to 2006 when the name was shortened to just "Vivendi". What happened/was documented/should be documented post-"Vivendi Universal Entertainment" in 2006 should have scrutiny written all over. That's when you or I (or any other Wikipedian for that matter) will fully understand/comprehend and move on/take action! Intrisit (talk) 14:20, 18 December 2024 (UTC)
- @Akasakamoto: Please see the history of Vivendi. Achmad Rachmani (talk) 22:56, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
- This is why article cleanups at the article you cited, Universal Studios, Inc. and the histories of both titles with regards to the "Seagram-Vivendi Universal" era between 1995 and 2005 are very, very important, considering (and I'm referring you to) the page history of "Universal Studios" and "Disney Star"/"Star India". All this/these just simply adds to the confusion, until article cleanups of any sort arrive and bring sanity and clarity to the quality WP articles we have! Universal Studios, Inc. → Universal Filmed Entertainment Group – Although Universal Studios, Inc. was originally formed in 1996 via a renaming of MCA Inc. after Seagram bought the company, no such company appears to exist within NBCUniversal's current corporate structure (at least similarly to how Warner Bros. Entertainment operates under Warner Bros. Discovery and, prior to 2022, Time Warner/WarnerMedia) as a result of various restructurings over the years. As stated on NBCU's "About" page on its website and various other press releases, the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group is specifically named as one of its two main operating units for film and TV production, with Universal Studio Group handling the television side of things. Furthermore, Universal (again, referring to USI here) currently legally operates under the name Universal City Studios LLC, effectively rendering this name outdated. - Comment – Not sure what's going on here, but Universal Studios' apparent erasure from existence appears to be a new development. universalstudios
.com was live as a standalone website just last month (and we can see that an entity named "Universal Studios" certainly existed, given the copyright notice at the bottom of the page), encompassing NBCUniversal's film and theme park businesses, but it now mysteriously redirects to the Universal Destinations & Experiences (theme parks) website. InfiniteNexus (talk) 06:44, 12 September 2025 (UTC)- See? That's where the confusion comes from! But have you also asked yourself this question; "What does this website you cited entail/encompass? Universal Studios, Inc. or Universal Studios the physical locations and lots?" By this RM, to me this makes sense! Why? To eliminate confusion with the other Universal Studios, obviously! To reiterate what I stated in the section above this RM;
with regards to the "Seagram-Vivendi Universal" era between 1995 and 2005... very, very important
. This article is just as confusing as we predicted, as it currently incubates and duplicates the info on post-1995 MCA Inc. Intrisit (talk) 21:53, 23 September 2025 (UTC)

- Good idea. I thought about it after reading it, too, and it makes sense that Universal Studios, Inc. is since last years Universal Filmed Entertainment Group. Nevertheless, there are also articles that speak of an internal organization within Universal Studios. But that's just a side note. Well, we'll have to wait for the administrators to get in touch and approve the idea. Only they could change the Universal Studios article to Universal Filmed Entertainment. Currently, that name refers to Universal Pictures. HeroWikia (talk) 15:50, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
- Universal Filmed Entertainment Group was always the name, but, you know, Wikipedians past and present would/will "recommend" citing sources to justify its existence. Since this article talks about the parent company of Universal Pictures and the Universal Studios Lots and physical locations within NBCUniversal, this RM makes perfect sense considering (and I'm referring you to) the page history of "Universal Studios" of which InfiniteNexus himself/herself played a big part in shaping what it looks like right now! I'm glad this RM and title was brought up! Why? It'll (for now at least) clear any confusion with Universal Pictures and the theme park units, physical locations and studio lots which could also be referred to as "Universal Studios". Intrisit (talk) 21:59, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
- Support since article is about the namesake parent company of Universal Pictures which by the way became more and more prominent on its 100th anniversary and also goes by the Universal Studios name, even if not as prominent right now as back then. Bring it on! Intrisit (talk) 21:43, 23 September 2025 (UTC)
LLM additions
[edit]HeroWikia added material that likely came from an LLM (given the parameters in some of the references). Additions can be found here, searching for "chatgpt". I've accordingly tagged this article as potentially problematic. —Joeyconnick (talk) 18:15, 17 October 2025 (UTC)
