At least in the current literature, tissue factor is currently used name for thromboplastin. I think that this page should be moved to tissue factor with a redirect from the more historical name, thromboplastin. --Wsloand 15:34, 13 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I agree to this. Also, there should be more focus on tissue factor as compared to a description of the general coagulation cascade. Paul M.D., 17. January 2006

I would also like to see the addion of the calcium and phospholipid requirements for the formation of the VIIa + TF complex, or as I call it, E-Tenase (I know its not really a Tenase but it does the sam job). Also the localization onto platelet surface. This will help explaing how clotting stays localized to those who have trouble understanding how a non-sentient system that relies on probability could seem so intelligently orchestrated.

Cellular localization and trafficing. JFW | T@lk 21:37, 5 June 2006 (UTC) I would also like to see that Factor Va does not combine with Xa. It only functions in the prothrombin to thrombin reaction. That must be a mistake in the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.188.112.250 (talk) 16:28, 27 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Crystal structure

[edit]

The X-ray crystal structure image featured on the right under "F3" is not the best image to show this structure. The image shown is from PDB file 1AHW, which is from a crystal of the extracellular domain of tissue factor (TF) bound to the Fab fragment of antibody 5G9. Also, since there are 2 copies of that complex per unit cell in this particular crystal, what is actually imaged here are two copies of the TF extracellular domain and two copies of the antibody fragment. This result is something much more complex than the crystal structure of TF alone. It isn't clear to me, however, how to change this. Is the page automatically drawing the first structure from the list of PDB files? Can a more appropriate crystal structure be shown instead? ClottingFactor (talk) 22:14, 1 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
