“especially or more specifically and accurately, officially as and through Filipino”
[edit]Hello everybody I’m not really a wikipedia editor and i’m definitely not a tagalog speaker but the state of one of the categories here is so abysmal I actually felt the need to make a talk page post for the first time.
“ …but especially, more accurately and specifically, officially, sociolinguistically and linguistic politically as, through or in the form of Filipino.”
This goddamn phrase. It doesn’t really make sense in the first place and from what I understand it is simply just a very long winded way of saying “Tagalog is spoken in the form of Filipino” or maybe “Tagalog is officially classified as Filipino.” I don’t know if maybe I’m just dumb but I really feel as though that should be rewritten, at least to be clearer on the meaning.
Also, even if it does make perfect sense to everyone but me, there is no reason it should be used TWELVE times in this section. No phrase should be used that much in a short amount of time. Especially not that one.
Also also, let’s talk about the end of this section:
“Tagalog speakers are also found in other parts of the Philippines and especially, more accurately and specifically, officially, sociolinguistically and linguistic politically as and through its standardized, codified, national or nationalized, intellectualized, more linguistically inclusive, more linguistically dynamic, and expanded or broaden form of, as and through Filipino, and the language serves as the national lingua franca of the country, but especially or more accurately and specifically as and through Filipino.”
Genuinely what does this mean. There is no way you have to use all these words to say this.
Maybe I am overreacting because it’s kinda late and I don’t really understand Tagalog as a language but I can’t be the only one who thinks this is crazy. Please can someone with more background knowledge of the Tagalog language fix this phrasing ???? 2600:1702:3F80:A30:F007:28FF:AF17:8768 (talk) 03:49, 27 August 2025 (UTC)
- Hi everyone, I made this comment while logged out. I added a template to the Geography section in hopes that somebody more knowledgeable on the subject than I would be able to copyedit. Please feel free to move the template if I put it in the wrong spot; I've never placed a template before so I'm hoping I didn't do it incorrectly. Thank you!! :) Pippippop (talk) 20:01, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
