wrong picture

[edit]
ABOK#1049 (top) and ABOK#1058

The picture used (File:Span-loop-ABOK-1049.jpg) is actually the real single bowline on the bight i.e. abok #1058, not the span loop. In #1058 one end is double wrapped while the other end is single wrapped, in #1049 both are single wrapped.

According to ABOK #1057 "There are a number of knots that have been given this title (single bowline on the bight) including the HARNESS LOOP (#1050), but none of them have parallel ends as the real (DOUBLE) bowline on the bight (#1080) has." Cobanyastigi (talk) 19:49, 29 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]

While the knot in File:Span-loop-ABOK-1049.jpg might be seen as something else than a span loop ABOK #1049, it clearly isn't an ABOK #1058: #1058 has the loop exiting through the bight, together with the rope (the bight on the right in this image). The knot in the image, in contrast, has the loop exit under the rope "sheet bend style" and not through the bight. The same goes for the knot at the bottom of your picture - it is an interesting knot, but not an ABOK #1058. Actually, I didn't even find it in ABOK. Wikipeder (talk) 12:54, 14 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
