Noticed that this was still up for grabs, so I thought I might as well do it myself... By the way, it's unlikely I'll be able to complete this in 7 days. I've reviewed only pretty short articles before this so it'll probably take me a while. Also, I have to spend most of my day on a school computer with its respective school filters. Because of this, it might take me quite a while to do my source spot checking. Thank you for your patience!

  7. Overall:

Overview

[edit]
  • Consider linking black market.
  • Don't know how I would exactly fix this, but the sentences "...the ability to buy more Robux for cheaper, and more" and "...select users have gained the ability to publish avatar accessories, animations, bundles, and more" both use the phrase and more at the end of them. Being only a few sentences away from each other, it feel a little repetitive.

History and development

[edit]
  • "Roblox was first created..." ---> "Roblox was created..."
    • Done.
  • "...Baszucki came up with the idea of a physics sandbox with creation tools, and a social networking aspect." Remove the comma
    • Done.
  • Not GA criteria: Noticed in a few paragraphs you cite the same citation for every sentence when it's the only citation there, i.e the first two paragraphs of "Creation and history". Consider removing the excess citations throughout.
    • Did a little bit of cleaning up in this regard.
  • "Roblox was officially released on September 1, 2006, with Roblox Studio being made available that same year." When in that same year?
    • I don't think the official release date was clarified in any source.
  • "In light of the platform's newfound popularity and uses during lockdowns..." I'm having a tough time trying to understand the "and uses" part.
    • "where lockdowns led tens of millions of children to use Roblox as a means of communication".
  • Consider linking "pirating" to Music piracy or Copyright infringement
    • Linked it to Music piracy
  • "After being given permission to release during late 2020, Roblox released in China..." ---> "After being given permission during late 2020, Roblox released in China..."
    • Done.
  • "Also announced in 2022 was age ratings for games..." ---> "Also announced in 2022 were age ratings for games..."
    • Done.

Community and culture

[edit]
  • Not GA criteria: Is it possible to have an audio sample here of the original "oof" sound effect? It's iconic enough for fair use in my opinion.

Reception

[edit]
  • Looks good

Toy lines

[edit]
  • Move the user-generated content link up to its first mention.
    • Done.
  • "The minifigures have limbs and joints similar to that of Lego minifigures, though they are about twice the size. The minifigures have limbs and accessories that are interchangeable." ---> "The minifigures have interchangeable limbs and joints similar to that of Lego minifigures, though they are about twice the size." Or something similar.
    • Done.

Sourcing

[edit]

Note to future readers: Didn't bother to update the below numbers the match the sources after the final fixes were requested. Look at this permadiff to see what I was looking at.

I plan to check these refs:

1 Good

2

  • I see no explicit mention of the Roblox Corporation's creation.
    • I feel like within the context provided by the source, where it mentions terms like "start-up" and "co-founders" around the time of the platforms creation, it should be kinda obvious that the company was created around this time.

6 All good

8

  • Doesn't explicitly state that the majority of avatar items were made by Roblox themselves, though I could maybe see how it's implied. What do you think?
    • I don't think there's really any other people that could've made the items besides themselves.

18

  • Doesn't seem to mention game passes or developer products.
    • Tweaked to not mention them by name, however the source does mention that creators are able to embed purchases within their games.

19

  • Doesn't seem to support anything it covers.
    • Removed the source.

22

  • Doesn't look like Roblox is mentioned at all.
    • Replaced the source.

  • I see no mention of Hack Week. Roblox is barely mentioned.

  • I see no mention of Hack Week. Roblox is barely mentioned.
    • Completely removed the information about the Hack Week. Couldn't find any source at first glance to replace these two, and I don't remember anything appearing in the sources I extensively checked. Just mentioning the convention is probably enough.

  • Articles from Forbes contributors are considered unreliable and self-published per WP:VG/S and WP:FORBESCON. Consider removal if necessary.
    • The author behind this specific article has written for a number of other sites that we view as reliable, such as CNN, The Hollywood Reporter, Billboard, and also made their own news site. I don't know if they'd be a "subject-matter expert" but since they aren't making any contentious claims or any statements that would go against WP:BLP in that specific source I think it's fine.

Alright, I believe I got everything this time. Sorry for the false flag comment not that long ago. Any-who, thanks for taking the time to review this article! I hope that we can possibly work together again in the future. λ NegativeMP1 05:31, 15 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
All the compliments go to you too! This is also the longest article for a review I've done since I began doing reviews (out of the five: Frostpunk, Blast Wind, Aperture Hand Lab, and Reinhardt (Overwatch)). If ya wanna see me again, check out the Terraria GAN. I might be there... Tarlby (t) (c) 05:53, 15 March 2025 (UTC)[reply]
