Usage examples
[edit]I removed the long-winded discussion of pointer usage because:
- The examples were poorly written. Besides the writing's lack of clarity, the examples also tried to discuss both C and C++, which just made things more confusing. Of what relevance is C++ and
operator new
to an article on pointer arithmetic? - The content was incorrect and/or inaccurate on a bunch of technical issues.
- The content was irrelevant anyway. This article should discuss pointer arithmetic, not basic pointer usage -- that belongs elsewhere, like in the pointer article, or perhaps a Wikibook on basic C programming techniques.
While I don't like deleting content, I think the content I removed just made the article worse. I had begun improving it (see the "checkpoint" revision), but I eventually decided there wasn't any point. Neilc 4 July 2005 16:13 (UTC)
