Abolishment of Latin in favor of the Italian language?
[edit]The article has this passage: > In 1561 Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoy abolished the use of Latin as an administrative language and established the Italian language as the official language of government affairs in Nice.
I find that hard to believe, as the Savoy/Piedmont region was always very strongly piedmontese speakers, and from my recollections they were very late to assimilate the "italian" language.
Anybody has a source? Is it true that Emmanuel Philibert abolished latin? Santiagobasulto (talk) 13:02, 26 February 2023 (UTC)
Hôtel Couvent
[edit]it does not bear any cultural significance, it served more as a destruction agent of the Old Town, and should be removed by the moderators from the Culture paragraph. 2.15.15.194 (talk) 08:27, 15 April 2025 (UTC)

Nice → Nice, France or Nice, Alpes-Maritimes – Per WP:PTOPIC; Most people searching Nice on English Wikipedia are looking for kindness. I know Wikipedia is not a dictionary, but we already have an article about kindness and we can redirect to that. TheLatinNerd (talk) 22:11, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose per all the "oppose" arguments already presented seventeen, thirteen, nine and eight-and-a-half years ago at Talk:Nice/Archive 1#"Demography" section. (29 July 2008), Talk:Nice/Archive 1#Urban/Metro (19 April 2012), Talk:Nice/Archive 1#Requested move 31 July 2016 and Talk:Nice/Archive 1#Requested move 3 January 2017. Users in search of kindness can access it directly. It also has a hatnote link atop the Nice article and is the second entry on the Nice (disambiguation) page. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 23:02, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
- Strong support a move per WP:ASTONISH. I'm not familar with with current consensus on French locations so I'm unsure which target is better. Esolo5002 (talk) 05:06, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose While "Nice" is a common word for kindness in English, but remember, Wikipedia is not dictionary. So, i would think that the word "Nice" is unencyclopedic. Regardless, i partially agree with nominator that Nice, France or Nice, Alpes-Maritimes should be treated as a redirect to current title. 103.111.102.118 (talk) 07:50, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- They already are. JIP | Talk 13:35, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose, no other term called "Nice" or variant is nearly as natural as a primary topic. The disambig is fine. Blythwood (talk) 08:37, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose Other things are called 'Nice', but this is the most prominent one. We're not redirecting it to a different concept only understood in one language. Nathannah • 📮 22:00, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose You'd think someone would search for "Niceness" if they mean kindness, but "Nice" on its own is likely to be in regards to the city. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 05:17, 22 May 2025 (UTC)

Article isn't really objective, non-biased
[edit]For instance "The clear air and soft light..." The lede is a bit long anyway, could use some tidying up. 2601:246:4800:2570:A852:B1BD:7F36:9D4A (talk) 17:10, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
- The 3, 4, 5, and 6 sections of the lede could be taken out. I'm my opinion. ~2025-33151-14 (talk) 18:53, 29 November 2025 (UTC)
