Abolishment of Latin in favor of the Italian language?

[edit]

The article has this passage: > In 1561 Emmanuel Philibert, Duke of Savoy abolished the use of Latin as an administrative language and established the Italian language as the official language of government affairs in Nice.

I find that hard to believe, as the Savoy/Piedmont region was always very strongly piedmontese speakers, and from my recollections they were very late to assimilate the "italian" language.

Anybody has a source? Is it true that Emmanuel Philibert abolished latin? Santiagobasulto (talk) 13:02, 26 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hôtel Couvent

it does not bear any cultural significance, it served more as a destruction agent of the Old Town, and should be removed by the moderators from the Culture paragraph. 2.15.15.194 (talk) 08:27, 15 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

NiceNice, France or Nice, Alpes-Maritimes – Per WP:PTOPIC; Most people searching Nice on English Wikipedia are looking for kindness. I know Wikipedia is not a dictionary, but we already have an article about kindness and we can redirect to that. TheLatinNerd (talk) 22:11, 20 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Article isn't really objective, non-biased

For instance "The clear air and soft light..." The lede is a bit long anyway, could use some tidying up. 2601:246:4800:2570:A852:B1BD:7F36:9D4A (talk) 17:10, 3 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The 3, 4, 5, and 6 sections of the lede could be taken out. I'm my opinion. ~2025-33151-14 (talk) 18:53, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
