Rewriting the overview

[edit]

I've decided to go about editing the overview due to a lack of a good explanation on the topic. Please feel free to review those changes. I also wanted to be sure to include more citations as this page is lacking them. TheStackOverflow (talk) 23:37, 22 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I found this talk topic after editing the intro. I think your change in 2019 was good. I think talk of operating system is off the mark and I think it needed to get to the point faster instead of beating around the bush. Stevebroshar (talk) 20:02, 27 April 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Potential *bold* modifications

[edit]

When talking about "native" in computing I'm thinking that it might be a good idea to revamp the article by describing what "native" is in terms of a formal computer organization or other similar stack. "Native" is a broad concept that can be thought of in layers. Software might use "native" GUI components when its code works in a cross platform manner (python, java, electron, MAUI), however, "native" might also mean CPU or GPU instruction sets that require dedicated drivers/software to be able to use. In its current state, I'm not sure the article effectively "gets its point across" outside of the overview sentence. Chainsawvasectomy (talk) 20:38, 10 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
