Hi. I have taken the initiative to check the rounding figures by using a calculator. By inputting the initial five digits (85.964) from the box office in other territories ($85,964,168 as reported by The Numbers) into the calculator, the rounding comes out $86 million. Therefore, it is shown there is an error in the current rounded figure ($85.9 million) on the main page. The correct value should be $86 million, not $85.9 million. My intention was to rectify this issue, but my edits were undone without any review.
@MikeAllen: You say this has been discussed so many times. Do you mean the ONE archived time? Also that talk appeared to end with you agreeing to put horror-comedy in the lede. What gives? Wolfdog (talk) 00:45, 17 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Joeyconnick: Can you look at the Archives talk "Genres that keep getting added in lead sentence"? It seems to have concluded with people wanting to call the genre something akin to horror comedy. Thoughts? Wolfdog (talk) 19:46, 28 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@MikeAllen I see in this comment it seems like having mention of the comedy elements was generally agreed upon. Your edit that added them back got reverted shortly after and then we just stuck with scifi horror.
I, personally, think labelling M3GAN as a horror-comedy is inaccurate. To me it's a sci-fi horror with some pretty funny moments, but not structured in the way of a comedy or tonally overall comedic.
The sequel? Sure, although I guess we could debate whether there was a lot of horror in M3GAN 2.0. But I do see reference to there being several sources describing this first film as a horror-comedy.
Thoughts?
If consensus is to add back mention of comedy in the lead, I def prefer "scifi horror with black comedy elements" or "dark humour" than the full "horror-comedy" moniker. I think a horror-comedy is when the horror is played for laughs or exaggerated in a humourous way, whereas I think with M3GAN, the title character is sassy and therefore funny, but it doesn't feel like the horror is the joke. If that makes sense. —Joeyconnick (talk) 00:32, 29 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]
The movie's title on the poster is stylized as MΞGAN (with three horizontal lines representing the 3 and the E in her name; rendered here with the Greek capital letter Xi (U+039E). The film is officially spelt M3GAN with the number 3, so I believe adding the stylized title here will help readers to understand the wordplay and how that conclusion is reached. I believe it is similar to what is seen on the page for the 2013 movie "Epic", where the title is in all lowercase and it is stylized in the lede this way. I think it's a stretch to reference the Greek capital letter. The popularly-recognized stylization is making the E a 3 instead. There would need to be reliable sources showing the relevance of the Greek capital letter, and I'm pretty sure that is not in enough abundance.
