In Islam it is forbidden to depict the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), please remove the picture depicting him ascending to Jannah. Thank you. 2600:1017:B11C:DEB0:D48E:9B74:F5F5:7B1B (talk) 14:34, 13 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Isra and Mi'raj

[edit]

Isra and Mi'raj are entirely two different events. Al Isra's (the journey's) first aaya talks about a journey to Al Aqsa mosque was only a Roya. In its 60th aaya Quran clarifies itself that the journey was actually a vision. It appears in hadith also that Muhammad was asleep when the incident occured. Regarding the potraits shown

[edit]

  • What I think should be changed:

The picture/miniature painting/ portrait of Muhammad P.B.U.H should be removed.

  • Why it should be changed:
Such representations are not considered accurate and are generally discouraged within the Muslim community, as they hold deep religious significance. Out of respect for these beliefs and to maintain harmony, these pictures/ portraits should be taken down. I sincerely appreciate everyone’s understanding regarding this matter, as it is highly sensitive and important to many people around the world.
  • References supporting the possible change (format using the "cite" button):

Here are some fatwā (scholarly rulings) and positions by Islamic scholars / institutions on the issue of images (especially of the Prophet ﷺ or animate beings). These help explain why many Muslims believe that portraits or depictions are problematic: They also refer to previous fatwā from scholars and institutions: e.g. Sheikh Hasanain Makhluf (1950), Al-Azhar (1968), the Islamic Fiqh Council, etc., which have declared that images of the Prophet ﷺ are prohibited.

Fatwā on “Ruling on pictures” (IslamWeb, fatwa 88456)

This fatwā states that generally taking pictures of living souls is forbidden (harām). It cites hadiths such as “Image makers will be most severely punished by Allah on the Day of Resurrection.” IslamwebFatwā on “Ruling on pictures” (IslamWeb, fatwa 88456)

Respect should be done

[edit]

Wikipedia claims to be an open and uncensored platform, yet it allows content that is deeply offensive to many people of faith. Displaying portraits or images that claim to represent Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H.) is not only inaccurate but also highly sensitive and disrespectful to Muslims worldwide. Such depictions can be seen as discriminatory and inconsiderate toward the religious beliefs of millions who hold the Prophet in the highest reverence. We urge Wikipedia to show fairness and respect by removing or restricting these portrayals in the interest of religious sensitivity and mutual respect. Please see Talk:Muhammad/images. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 20:12, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Also, removal of images due to their perceived offensiveness towards a particular religion is censorship. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 20:15, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
what about inaccuracy Ahmed the lion (talk) 20:17, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Then discussion of their accuracy/inaccuracy is required. Please do not remove all the images from the article without any discussion here. On Wikipedia, a consensus is required for any change that is disputed. SuperPianoMan9167 (talk) 20:19, 7 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean by inaccurate? Noone claims this is a photo. VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 20:47, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Expanding the article with crucial elements

[edit]

@NGC 628 hey greetings! I know you care about this article and put much effort into that, so I ahve a request: Would you mind to extend this article by two pretty much significant elements? The article is still missing the reception about the Miraj in early Islam, especially Sufism (with God as the young beardless man who touched Muhamamd's shoulders) and the more spiritual Sufism by bazdami and Sana'i, and perhaps the Muslim philosophers sucha s Ibn Sina and maybe al-Ghazali? There is much about the hadiths and Quran verses, but its still lacking on the actual realy history (not how early history is forged by later theologicans) and theological interpretations on the matter. I know what this stuff exists but do not have the time right now to go through all these sources. Would you mind focusing on that part? This way the article could soon met the GA criteria, even though its still long work. VenusFeuerFalle (talk) 20:47, 19 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
