Typographical discrepancy

[edit]

The Incomplete gamma function article uses \mathrm{e} throughout. That disagrees with the article on the mathematical constant e, the article on the gamma function, and with the mathematical literature as a whole. "\mathrm{e}" should be replaced with "e" throughout.Getthebasin (talk) 17:05, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have made the replacement.Getthebasin (talk) 17:19, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Eliminate the animations at the beginning of the article

[edit]

The figures at the beginning of the article are hard to interpret. Moreover, the fact that they are animated makes them very annoying, like a banner from the 90's — Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.132.224.85 (talk) 15:29, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. What are those figures even supposed to be showing? Caption info is inadequate. I've gotten rid of them. Something informative would be helpful. Isambard Kingdom (talk) 16:27, 17 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Software Implementation

[edit]

The formulas for excel contain the term EXP(GAMMALN(s)). Since GAMMALN(s) is just LN(GAMMA(S)), shouldn't this be simplified to GAMMA(s)? Kmaricq (talk) 03:08, 11 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Removed original research

[edit]

This page contained some original research related to the "stable count distribution". The only references I could find to this concept outside Wikipedia were a series of SSRN preprints by the independent researcher Stephen H.T. Lihn (not peer reviewed, and as far I can tell never subsequently published or cited except as self-citations in other preprints). The username associated with these edits suggests this is the same author. This section of the article was not cited, so I removed it entirely - if it had been cited, it would likely have been to an SSRN preprint anyway. It may be worth someone taking time to check whether any other original research has been introduced into the article in the past. Petam576 (talk) 12:01, 1 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
