Anybody know if this is an open source app?

[edit]

Like the article isn’t very technical and it could be. 38.242.11.237 (talk) 03:49, 6 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

It is not. Joshua Aaron, the creator of ICEBlock, was actually asked about that at HOPE_16, and he refused to do so because of some security through obscurity type reasoning: "I don't want anybody from the government to have their hooks in how I'm doing what I'm doing. Once you go open source, everybody has access to it. So I'm just going to keep the codebase private at this time." Full Q&A is here. Myconix (talk) 01:48, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

There should be a disambiguation page for this and 2 others

[edit]

This article is particularly ambiguous with ice block that redirects to ice pop and another page that is unrelated to the subject of this article with ice blocking. So I am ordering that a disambiguation page be made to reflect it's ambiguity and a hatnote be made at the top of all three pages. Pings: @Myconix @Hurricane Clyde @ElijahPepe 182.185.42.137 (talk) 06:55, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I do have to agree at least a little bit on the need for a disambiguation page. Though I am not necessarily sold on the idea of a hatnote. That said IP, in future, I would suggest using terms like "I am requesting" rather than "I am ordering", because it could be taken the wrong way. But, thank you for pointing out the ambiguity, and you might make a great Wikipedian at some point. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 17:56, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
I've went ahead and created the disambiguation page. Hurricane Clyde 🌀my talk page! 18:08, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, it wasn't only for you but it could have indeed been worded beter. Also this article is in pretty bad shape right now, it could use some eyes from @ElijahPepe who I've seen made a hatnote somewhere and specializes in US politics related articles 182.185.42.137 (talk) 18:17, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
