Possible ToDos

[edit]

A list of possible ToDos:

  • More detailed functional description.
  • More detailed technical specs.
  • Frequency and spectral curves, and oscillograms.
  • Photos of TFK U401BR chips, of Telefunken High Com modules, of HIGH COM and HIGH COM II logos, perhaps even a block diagram and excerpts of circuit diagrams.
  • Discussion of Telefunken's modifications in High Com circuits since 1982 (soft-switching etc.), of Rotel's differences (other time constants), and of the Nakamichi High-Com II differences.
  • Possibly existing DSP-based digital expander profiles to decode digitized analog High Com audio recordings.
  • Links to digitized analog demo recordings with and without High Com (II), and perhaps with other NR systems for easier comparison of the quality by interested readers.

Telcom c4/HighCom FM

[edit]

There is literally no description of the specs/features of the professional TelCom c4. As the name suggests, it was a 4-band compander. At the time, it was quite popular among European broadcasters as well as recording studios.

The overview table insinuates that HighCom FM was ever available as a product in consumer gear. As is later pointed out, there had been trials carried out between 1981 and 1984. However, they ended with the system not being introduced to regular FM broadcasting. 92.72.69.164 (talk) 14:58, 15 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]
