Give a plain English definition

I feel the definition in this article would benefit from some plain English commentary alongside it, as it's currently a rather impenetrable list of axioms. My understanding is that $R$ can be thought of as "functions on $U$", $s$ and $t$ are then "source" and "target" maps; $e$ works like an identity element, $m$ like a multiplication map, and $i$ like an inversion map. I'm no expert though so someone better versed in this stuff should add the commentary they feel would be useful to non-specialists. Felixhens (talk) 15:47, 28 December 2025 (UTC)
