Talk:Electron transition
On February 24, 2011, this Electron transition page was created as a REDIRECT to Atomic electron transition and then changed to a REDIRECT to Molecular electronic transition, which for all practical purposes means Molecular electron transition. Instead of automatically leading to one or the other where the reader may not realize the existence of both, Electron transition should actually lead to both. One thing that could be done about this is that Electron transition could be turned into a disambiguation page leading to both, with the reader being able to choose among them. Atomic electron transition was originally called Quantum leap with mostly atomic electron transition information at the time it was moved to Atomic electron transition. The original Quantum leap page was an article covering an abrupt change, sudden increase, or dramatic advance.
However, both Atomic electron transition and Molecular electronic transition are currently both rather short articles which may or may not be lengthened some time in the future, and some of the concepts in both can be discussed in common on one page. Therefore, the idea of merging the content of both articles into Electron transition comes up, with restoring Quantum leap to its original concept. Both Atomic electron transition and Molecular electronic transition would be REDIRECTs to the merged Electron transition. Some content from the Energy level article could be moved to the merged Electron transition article.
So now, I've outlined two possibilities:
- making Electron transition a disambiguation page, or
- making Electron transition a merged article, and restoration of the original Quantum leap article.
I plan to wait a little while for feedback from the Wikipedia community. H Padleckas (talk) 16:29, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
- Quantum leap is now a disambiguation page. I think I'll leave it pretty much as it is. H Padleckas (talk) 16:34, 2 February 2012 (UTC)
