gender bias
[edit]this article is extremely gender biased
it generalizes as if all rapists are males, even though it is not always true —Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.215.168.159 (talk) 09:37, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- You are correct in that this article assumes the rapist is a male -- it is only performed when sperm cells have been identified microscopically or if the case history indicates a male perpetrator. This technique would not even be considered for a female rapist, as she does not produce sperm cells. I don't believe that there is a statement in the article saying that all rapists are males. Lead section has extra information
[edit]I have tagged this article for clean-up because the lead section has a whole lot of extra information that is not in the body of the article. See MOS:LEAD for purpose of the lead. It should provide an accessible overview to the whole article. It should not contain half the article. Information in the lead should be expanded upon in the body of the article too. For this article, all five paragraphs of the lead should be part of the body of the article. The second sentence, seems to me to be the key sentence of the lead, while everything else is mostly details. See WP:LEADFOLLOWSBODY - Cameron Dewe (talk) 06:53, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
Globalize
[edit]I added a Globalize clean-up tag to the statement about untested rape kits in the United States. Is this issue a US specific problem or one experienced world-wide? It seems to me that the issue may be more to do with the funding and resourcing model used for laboratories in different countries than simply an issue with the analysis being labour intensive. If the appropriate level of resources are not devoted to the testing then the laboratories are not going to be able to process the kits. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 06:53, 26 April 2025 (UTC)
