Terraria
[edit]While the information is accurate within the mention of Terraria under "Legacy", the source is Fandom which is against Wikipedia policy as it is user-generated content. Unless there is a reliable source proving it, it'll probably have to be removed. Icedmorning (talk) 22:49, 22 June 2021 (UTC)
Cthulhu
[edit]The cthulhu also have a roblox group after it named the Lovecraftian Order, they have one game the Sunken City of Rhy'leh — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:240:D600:45F0:C014:6A31:68DC:57E (talk) 14:48, 23 February 2022 (UTC)
Dungeons & Dragons mentions
[edit]This article says that Cthulhu was taken out of "all future editions," but in the current 5e version "Great Cthulhu" is mentioned as an entity appropriate to the Great Old One patron of the warlock class. Is this worth mentioning? Abelhawk (talk) 14:05, 13 May 2022 (UTC)
No mention of South Park
[edit]The multi-episode story arc in South Park's Season 14 featuring Cthulhu has got to be a landmark of sorts for the maistreamization of this character. It needs a mention here. --Christofurio (talk) 12:06, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
- No, as it is WP:TRIVIA. Veverve (talk) 12:09, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
- Vevere, you just linked me to a guideline that says, "this guideline does not suggest the inclusion or exclusion of any information." That guideline is against trivia SECTIONS. It does not tell me that the inclusion of the SP use of Cthulhu itself is trivial. I don't see it as any more or less trivial than the D&D material here. But ... whatever. When I get the time I'll do a good job of it and then you can delete it and we cvan have a fun back-and-forth. You love those, right? Christofurio (talk) 15:29, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
- I indeed oppose as it is purely undue and trivial. You have been warned of my opposition, and that thus there is no consensus, and therefore you including this information would be purely disruptive.
- And please spare me your personnal attacks. Veverve (talk) 18:06, 8 July 2023 (UTC)
- I’m miffed by your exclusive attitude towards the SP arc of the Cthulhu methos and stating it has a trivial at best characterization and doesn’t carry significant weight with a mainstream audience. Please if you haven’t watched the episodes that include the sea creature in their storyline, do so and then please come back and if you have the same opinion then you have the sense of humour of a rock and are not seeing South Park for it’s extremely intelligent and amusing commentary on current affairs at the time of writing and airing. Haters be like I don’t get it??? The real folks get it and need it to deal with the state of affairs our world is in rn. Also it probably brought the creature back from the literary grave and introduced it to a whole new generation of people (one can speculate a larger group than that of the d&d world so who’s trivial now???)
- my apologies if you have done your homework before stating an opposing opinion that seems so prejudiced and based on nothing more than a disdain for a show often depicted in negative light by critics that simply can’t see past the potty humour and irrelevant material to understand the genius behind a show that’s run over 2 decades and still putting out new material.
- interested to see if your opinion changes with… well a little education on this very topic. Don’t bother responding if you haven’t seen the related episodes, I will just think you a close minded person that does not belong on Wikipedia forums making opinions because her church leader thinks SP is the devil speaking to us all. ~2026-91531 (talk) 13:53, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
- Look, I enjoy South Park too, but you still need reliable sources backing up the notability of its Cthulhu episodes. Insisting that an editor has to watch and enjoy the episodes or else "
you have the sense of humour of a rock
" isn't a good argument. As Veverve said, the personal attacks are not helping your case here. Harryhenry1 (talk) 14:38, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

- I’m in total agreement and Wow the utter ignorance of anyone posing to be anything but an uneducated nit-whit assuming having any right to dismiss something so quickly: should not be allowed an opinion until given to researching that which they so quickly deem trivial. I wonder what rock er I mean area of absolutely dry and boring sect of “academia “ Veverve climbed out from to deliver such a foot in mouth and close minded opinion so quickly?? Obviously not the one from with Mr. Hanky and Family spring from each Christmas ~2026-91531 (talk) 14:33, 5 January 2026 (UTC)
Glottal Lateral
[edit]Khlûl′-hloo - the hl might represent a "glottal lateral sound". My theory is consistent with Lovecraft's description of the sound being "guttural" and "impossible for humans to pronounce". I think the correct pronunciation is [ˈqLu̞Lʔ.Lu], with the L representing a voiced emphatic half-labialized glottal lateral approximant. I am a Green Bee (talk) 11:42, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
- Why are you posting this WP:OR here? Veverve (talk) 17:16, 23 August 2023 (UTC)
Influence on board games
[edit]There are over 150 ranked board games on boardgamegeek using the Cthulhu Mythos, some very highly ranked, and new ones keep coming out. 85.65.187.42 (talk) 19:23, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
Influence on cinema
[edit]One of the characters in the movie "The pirates of Caribbean" (the antagonist) Davy Jones looks like the description of Chtulhu. 2806:2F0:9001:F000:9C6:7FC8:D5EA:834E (talk) 12:49, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
High Priest of the Old Ones
[edit]there are many mentions floating around of Cthulhu being the 'High Priest of the Old Ones'. I simply can't find where that comes from though. I'm fairly sure this is not from Ech Pi El himself, making the appointment non canon, since it's not from the Creator of the character, but I'd still like to find out who came up with that, and where... if only to decide if the thing even deserves to be mentioned in the main page. Svartalf (talk) 06:50, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- Cthulhu is called a "priest" in the original Call of Cthulhu story, and presumably he's a priest of the Great Old Ones. Where that exact phrase came from though, I'm not sure. Harryhenry1 (talk) 06:57, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
- You sure? dangit, I have so much reading to do... will find an opening to go through the CoC again then... Svartalf (talk) 07:20, 22 December 2025 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of List of squid-faced humanoids
[edit]Since 2012 there has been a List of squid-faced humanoids, which acknowledged Cthulhu as one of the earliest such characters. It appears likely to be deleted, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of squid-faced humanoids. – Fayenatic London 21:24, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
