COMPU-Box Computers?

The significance of the claim that computers are involved in generating the so-called "compubox" statistics is mysterious. Just saying that the process is "computerized" leaves open the possibility that a man sitting ringside enters the number of punches he thinks the boxer has landed. This wikipedia entry tells us that the compubox system is operated by two people, but says nothing about how the humans are involved. If they are pushing a button each time that they think a punch was landed, then this "computerized" system is no more accurate, no different at all, than if one were to make marks on a piece of paper, and count them up at the end.

But if the numbers were generated by sensors in the gloves, or some other type of sensors, there would be a way to cheat the sensors, which would be worse. So the constant reference in boxing to "compubox numbers," although it gives the commentary an authoritative aura, is of very questionable importance.

This entry is not all that useful.

I would have to agree with the above when it comes down to this article not being very useful, a lot of things weren't notable, let alone the entire article lacking references, I believe most people would come to this page to learn how compubox works. The name Compu-strike alone led me to believe that it some how artificially counted punches. I think it is also noteworthy to mention that no organizations actually use Compustrike to judge fights, just to gauge a fighters performance. --EnrageD420 (talk) 23:03, 19 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

CompuStrike and MMA

Recently, CompuStrike (Compubox under another name) has made its presence known in MMA and K-1, most notably all UFC/StrikeForce/HDnet events. Also the name seems to have been changed to CompuStrike not Compubox.

Not only does CompuStrike "detect" power shots and jabs, but it also collects information on take downs (attempts and successful take downs), advantageous positions gained by grappling, and kicks. Again, it should be mentioned that this isn't used to judge fights, just to gauge perfomance. References should be available from Compustrike's website. CompuStrike section needed

There is no mention of compustrike (subsidiary of compubox that also had a totally separateStrike website) but it was all the rage in 2010s. there is also a bit more to say about compubox also.
