Once the Purple Dragon Book is out on 8/31/06, should this page be merged in some way with the main Compilers: Principles, Techniques, and Tools page?

Publishing date

[edit]

From what was said on one of the author's web pages (Ullman?) the book was finalised some weeks ago, so I think that if the 31st August date has been missed, it will just be a few days late, not January 2007 (that seems to be from the Pearson link, which is so old it still has the old title). Anyone have a firmer date? --Mike Van Emmerik 01:44, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The main AWL site is still listing the end of August. It looks like the answer is real soon now. Do we all have a copy on order? Who will be the first to receive it? I had Allen & Kennedy's book delivered by Amazon.uk before it was available in the US.

I think I can be of some help here. I'm Scott Ullman, co-founder of Strange Tonic (and Jeff Ullman's son). I just picked up a copy of the new Dragon Book that was sent to my father by the editor Matt Goldstein. So, I can verify that it has in fact been printed. I'm assuming that whatever is preventing the book from being in stores and on Amazon.com is some kind of supply or shipping issue. I know that the co-authors intended for the book to be available for compilers courses starting Fall 2006, so I'm sure that it will be out any day now.Strangetonic 20:28, 7 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
