This is because
- Getting rid of waste (and eating) is what life must do. Unless we all learned that wrong in school; the part where it says "life must eat, poo, and reproduce"
- grow: it doesn't have to grow and depending on the section some cells might never grow (outside of M0 into S phase, being cells which begin and then spend their life carrying out their function before apoptosis)
