Constructors' Championship
[edit]What's the point of showing McLaren's points total including the points they could have scored in Hungary between parentheses in the Constructors' Championship table. They were penalized with ineligibility for constructors' points after qualification for the Hungarian Grand Prix and thus BEFORE the race and as a result they were never awarded those points. Indeed, Hamilton and Alonso were allowed to keep their drivers' points but that only relates to the Drivers' Championship and not by any means to the Constructors' Championship. They never scored those points and I can't really see why a total including them should be here. Tvx1 (talk) 20:13, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
- Well... look at it this way. If the season exclusion hadn't have happened, we would still have needed an explanation for the discrepancy between the drivers' points and the constructor's points, because that is pretty unusual. Someone doing the math themselves would find they didn't add up. So a note would have to be made about the 15 point difference. Since the season exclusion happened, that's more academic than pertinent, but it's still useful information. Now, should this be in the table, in the parenthetical, and not in a footnote? Probably should be in a footnote, because it's unsound to have a bunch of numbers there that are later explained. But I can understand why the number is given. So, instead of having either number in the table, the explanation and numbers should be moved entirely to the footnotes. --Golbez (talk) 20:24, 27 November 2013 (UTC)
- I agree with that. A 0 with footnote and 203 with a second footnote is more than enough. The 218 is unnecessary and misleading because they never scored those points. Tvx1 (talk) 17:29, 26 January 2014 (UTC)
- Has this ever been resolved? It says 218 on the page, but there is a more solid case to be made for the total WCC points tally to be 203 (i.e. excluding Hungary points). Lustigson (talk) 20:31, 7 February 2025 (UTC)
- It had been resolved, but some editors kept changing it. In fact 203 wasn’t correct either. They were never credited with any point following the Italian Grand Prix. Tvx1 17:17, 9 February 2025 (UTC)

Headline photo
[edit]When you search this article from the main page, why doesn't it show the champion Kimi Räikkönen in the photo and instead you will see Lewis Hamilton? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.249.16.98 (talk) 18:15, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
- Probably to do with how Hamilton's image is less long and more appropriate for the thumbnail? I don't know how Wikipedia selects thumbnail images but I would have assumed it'd be based on the order of the image & Raikkonen's is clearly first. I guess we could try using a different Raikkonen image? FozzieHey (talk) 18:21, 6 August 2020 (UTC)
- We could try cropping the image.

Unitalicize the words "Driver's Championship" and "Constructor's Championship", it's completely unnecessary to have those words italicized and it looks bad. Matthewthemorgan2404 (talk) 00:18, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
Done I don't see where "Constructor's Championship" was italicised, however. 𝟙𝟤𝟯𝟺𝐪𝑤𝒆𝓇𝟷𝟮𝟥𝟜𝓺𝔴𝕖𝖗𝟰 (𝗍𝗮𝘭𝙠) 08:41, 26 March 2021 (UTC)
McLaren 166 points?
[edit]why does McLaren only have 166 points when Lewis and Fernando combined have over 200? 2001:4454:5D9:4200:E1A9:67CD:52B4:B16B (talk) 12:02, 10 October 2025 (UTC)
Leave McLaren's Constructors' points at zero
[edit]There has been considerable editing wars happening over McLaren's points tally in 2007. I believe to prevent further editing wars for the points to just be left at zero and not to include any potential points. due to their disqualification. HwHrdCnItB1 (talk) 17:51, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
- @HwHrdCnItB1: There is already a discussion about this at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Formula One#McLaren points in 2007 (again..). Please direct your opinion there. SSSB (talk) 19:26, 2 January 2026 (UTC)
