Ezekiel Georgewill (born 17 March 2000) known professionally as Swayvee, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and rapper. He was born in Lagos, Nigeria.[1]
Early life and education
[edit]Born on 17 March 2000, in Lagos, Ezekiel Georgewill originally hails from Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, in Rivers State. He grew up in Port Harcourt, where he Studied at Rootway Comprehensive College for his Secondary education, He later gained admission to study study Computer Science in University Of Uyo, graduating in 2022.[2][1]
Career
[edit]2016-2021: Career beginnings and record label deal
[edit]Swayvee began his music career under the name Fatal Emcee, participating in street rap battles. In 2016, he registered for a music competition at Nectar Studios in Uyo, marking his first major exposure. He finished as the first runner-up in the competition and had two songs at the time. He later adopted the name Swayzee before transitioning to Swayvee, representing a more refined start as he pursued music professionally. Swayvee was highly influenced by Tory Lanez, whose musical style helped shape his rap fusion.[3][4]
Swayvee’s musical career officially commenced in 2018 when he signed with Etins Records, a Nigerian record label. In 2020, he was featured on label mate Yarden's debut single titled "Wild". That year, he released several freestyles, including "How To Sway", introducing his rap style. Swayvee draws musical inspiration from artists like Tory Lanez, Wizkid, Runtown, Burna Boy and Bryson Tiller.[2] In April 2021, he released "DMS" through Etins Records.[5][1]
2021-present
[edit]In late 2021, Swayvee officially left Etins Records to pursue music independently, unveiling his music brand "Weirdsid3".[3], in December that same year, he released his extended play titled "Lost Files", a compilation of unreleased and new tracks.[4]
In 2023, Swayvee dropped "Para" a street drill sounds, a fusion of hip-hop/rap, in collaboration with Nigerian rapper and singer, Zhus Jdo.[6]
In February, 2024 Swayvee was featured as main artist on "Urban High", a collaborative album by PressPlay, alongside co-artists like Yarden, Morien and Yunos.[7]
In September 2024, Swayvee dropped 2 singles titled "Position" and "Over You" under Weirdsid3 and Etins Records.[8][9]
In March 2025, Swayvee dropped his hit single "Us" which went viral on Social media, and became a viral sound the TikTok platform. It reached number 2 spot on Apple Music RnB charts and charted on Shazam global 200, On Spotify it charted number 1 spot on Spotify's Top 50 viral in Nigeria and debut at Top 10 on Spotify's Viral 50 in South Africa[10] amassing over 1.5 million streams. "US" received airplay on national radio stations like, Soundcity Fm, The Beat 99.9 FM, Urban radio and Cool Fm.[11][12][4]
