Managing a conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, EditorCreator5. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:37, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
Do you need help?
[edit]Hello, I noticed that you posted on User talk:ToadetteEdit requesting help with a draft - unfortunately, the editor is not able to respond such requests anymore for various reasons. If you need help with a draft, I may be able to provide you with some advice - just ping me with {{ping|AlphaBetaGamma}} and state what draft and what help do you need. AlphaBetaGamma (Talk/report any mistakes here) 10:22, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- I hope this message is what you mean by "ping" you. I am totally new to this, so I am unfamiliar with protocol or even how to do things. I am trying to write a wikipedia page for my husband. In fact I can't even find it anymore, maybe they are taken down if they aren't approved. I could really use A LOT of help! EditorCreator5 (talk) 12:47, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- @EditorCreator5 you ping an editor by using the @ sign as I did here. So you'd ping @AlphaBetaGamma the same way. Your draft is at Draft:Greg Preslicka and you also received some helpful feedback from @DoubleGrazing at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Articles_for_creation/Help_desk#02:27,_26_June_2025_review_of_submission_by_EditorCreator5 Star Mississippi 13:02, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
- Adding a note that I replied on that thread before seeing this. Unfortunately, that user even has talk page disabled just mins ago. JuniperChill (talk) 13:58, 26 June 2025 (UTC)
