Development

In the early 1990s, producers Ben Myron and Roland Joffé at Lightmotive with TriStar Pictures were set to produce a film adaptation of the book Oh, the Places You'll Go! with Dr. Seuss penning the screenplay.[1] The Seuss screenplay was later rewritten by Richard LaGravenese and Barry Berman respectively, but the adaptation was never filmed.[2]

In October 2020, a musical animated film adaptation of the book along with The Cat in the Hat (2026) and a spin-off Thing One and Thing Two were in development from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation. J. J. Abrams was set to produce the film alongside his production company Bad Robot.[3] In November 2021, Jon M. Chu was attached to direct the film.[4] In June 2024, it was announced that Jill Culton would co-direct the film alongside Chu, and that Rob Lieber would write the script.[5] In July 2025, Ariana Grande and Josh Gad joined the voice cast.[6]

Music

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will write original songs for the film.[5]

Release

Oh, the Places You'll Go! is scheduled to be released in the United States on March 17, 2028, including engagements in IMAX.[7] It was originally expected to be released in 2027.[8]
