Interestingly, perhaps, 1984 Cobb book-length biographer Charles C. Alexander mentioned the 1916 New Haven exhibition game without noting the Cannonball Redding angle. However, 2015 Cobb book-length biographer Tim Hornbaker did mention the Redding angle. Rosenberg was able to put a finer touch on the matter in his book, by noting Redding as an Atlanta native, to match up with Cobb being from Narrows, Ga.

His heavy drinking (to be Rosenberg's next change) is best stressed in the 1950s, and possibly related to trying to offset great physical pain.

This page's referee can plausibly eliminate the unwieldy Marvin Miller quote and use my add-in from an expert, Charles Alexander

Fixed Fleet Walker footnote by adding William Edward White.

  • 21:5021:50, 1 July 2016 diff hist +4,576 Baseball color line by Anson biographer Rosenberg: the 19th-century section had weak sourcing and some errant footnotes. One error was having the wrong year for Anson's first incident at Toledo: it is 1883. I have added in three authors to help spread out the narrative.
