  • 14:2914:29, 16 May 2025 diff hist −297 South African Grand Prix Removed an entirely unsubstantiated claim which is based on highly speculative information from a single website. There is no evidence to suggest that a South African F1 contract failed due to the government’s stance on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The vast majority of other sources state that it failed due to financial reasons. Talks to secure a deal are still taking place now, even with the invasion ongoing, meaning that this is not the reason for the failure of the deal. Tags: Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit

The drink is also not directly named after the actual springbok. current Tags: Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit
  • 15:4215:42, 25 April 2025 diff hist −205 Springbokkie A Springbokkie is absolutely not made with crème de menthe! It is instead made with peppermint liqueur (traditionally the South African Brand ‘Oude Meester’) which is an entirely distinct alcoholic beverage. It will never be made with crème de menthe in South Africa but it is a common mistake that foreigners make by assuming crème de menthe and peppermint liqueur are synonymous. Using crème de menthe will result in the colour and taste being wrong. Tags: Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit

It is more characteristic of South African English than it is of Zimbabwean English! The text claimed that it is an “outdated term” in South Africa. This is entirely untrue, to the point that referring to it by any other name would likely be met with confusion! Tags: Visual edit Mobile edit Mobile web edit
  • 20:3420:34, 20 April 2025 diff hist +1 Zimbabwean English This is definitely a phrase more characteristic of South Africa than Zimbabwe. It comes from the Afrikaans “’n Boer mask a plan”. Afrikaans is not commonly spoken in Zimbabwe. Although it may be present in Zimbabwean English too, I would suggest this entry be removed entirely as it is not an example of a difference between the two dialects. Alternatively this sentence could be changed to reflect the highest total attendance but, since average attendance is specifically referenced, the sentence has been changed to reflect this. • 19:4419:44, 6 December 2024 diff hist −24 Johannesburg Diamonds have never been found or mined in the Witwatersrand, this area is specifically known for its gold production. Diamonds have famously been found in abundance in other areas of South Africa and the global trade was dominated by De Beers which had its headquarters in Johannesburg but this is in no way related to the Witwatersrand. Johannesburg and the Witwatersrand are specifically famous for gold, not diamonds. Tag: Visual edit
