Dr. Prashant Madanmohan Leander, known by his pen name Dr. Leander, born in Thanjavur (Tamil Nadu), is an Armenian Alumnus Indian orthopedic surgeon, author, and health innovator. He is primarily recognized for his work on cognitive control, memory, and philosophy applied to medicine [1] . He is the founder of the Cognishift.org platform, which promotes exchanges between medicine, philosophy and the arts.

Biography

Dr. Prashant Madanmohan Leander completed his medical studies at Yerevan State Medical University, where he obtained a degree in medicine.He continued his training in India at the Madras Medical College and obtained certification for the DNB exam in orthopedics from the National Board of Examinations in New Delhi. He is registered in the Indian Medical Register.

Medical and scientific career

Initially a practicing orthopedist, he developed an interest in cognitive enhancement techniques, which he explored in his book The Monk With A Stethoscope (2023) [2] .He also published many works on preparing for competitive examinations for subspecialty exams in orthopedics [3] .

Prashant Madanmohan's literary work combines medicine,spirituality, memory and history. He is notably the author of:

  • The Monk With A Stethoscope (2023), a philosophical memoir on the mastery of mind and memory [4]
  • Armenian Spiritual Sanctuaries (2023), on Armenian monasteries, supported by the Indian Embassy in Armenia [5] .
  • Armenian Legacy in India (2024), a cultural study supported by the Avetik Isahakyan Cultural Center.[6]
  • The God of Deserted Memories (2025), a novel about shared memory between India, France and Armenia Its launch at Chennai’s Lalit Kala Akademi was covered by *Business Standard* and *ThePrint* supported and praised by the French and Armenian diplomatic missions.[7][8]

He is also the author of a biography of impressionist Armenian artist Lems Nersisyan published in 2023 [9]

CogniShift

In 2023, he founded Cognishift.org, an institute promoting transdisciplinary dialogues between medicine, memory, art and philosophy. The organization also launched the CogniShift Memory Institute [7] .

The book was critically acclaimed by renowned artist Lems Nersisyan . He also wrote a biography of Armenian artist-educator Lems Nersisyan in English in 2023 in Chennai, India [16] . . Critical reception

An article published in Forward Pathway magazine, “Intercultural artistic practices: reshaping identity and heritage in the digital age", acknowledges Dr. Madanmohan's contribution to the fusion of traditional motifs and new media forms as "a functional bridge between the past and the present", highlighting his influence on literary and artistic communities [17] [18] .

  • the annual Monalisa D'Amour Awards (May 2025), which celebrated the work of women writers and artists; was covered by ANI News [8][11].
  • Indo-Armenian Christmas celebrations (January 2025) at the Armenian Church in Chennai, with the participation of prominent Indian and Armenian diplomats [19][12]
  • "The God of Deserted Memories" Saturday Art and Literature Festival held at Lalit Kala Akademi in May 2025, presenting 42 original works by Mari Poghosyan and featuring diplomats from France and Armenia [20] .
  • Diplomatic Art Exhibition at the Embassy of India in Yerevan (May 2024) [21] .
  • French-Armenian-Indian Artistic and Literary Dialogue Event at the Lalit Kala Akademi (2025) [22] .
