Paripurna Poerwoko Sugarda (born 21 September 1957) is an Indonesian lecturer and consultant.

Early life and education

Paripurna Poerwoko Sugarda was born on 21 September 1957 as the four child of eighth children.[1] His father was the first principal of SMA Negeri 1 Yogyakarta and his grandfather was Soegarda Poerbakawatja, one of the eight curator and founder of Gadjah Mada University.[1] He went to Faculty of Economic and Business at Islamic University of Indonesia and went to Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University a year later in 1979.[1] After graduating from Gadjah Mada University, Paripurna obtained a master's degree in "International and Comparative Private Law" at the University of Groningen, and earned his Ph.D in "Legal Science" from the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University.[1]

Paripurna has two children.[1]

Career

Paripurna started his career by working as a lecturer at Gadjah Mada University and work at a consultation section by became capital market legal consultant.[1][2] He then worked as a secretary of the business law study program in Jakarta and then became head of the study program in there, and served as a dean at Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University from 2012 until 2016.[1][2] When Dwikorita Karnawati rose to become the rector of Gadjah Mada University, Paripurna served as vice rector for cooperation and alumni from 2017 until 2022.[1][2] He was the founder of the Master of Business Law at Gadjah Mada University in Jakarta and the International Undergraduate Program at the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University.[1]

Paripurna was a member of the drafting committee of the academic legal text for the new Indonesian contract law at the National Law Development Agency from 2013 until 2014, and his position was as an expert staff at the “Working Group on Contract Farming” at the International Institute for the Unification of Private Law.[1] He was also served as Head of the Antimonopoly Law Department at the Center of Intellectual Property Competition and Disputes Settlement Mechanism Studies at the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University, a member of the Investment Commission at the Investment Coordinating Board from 2013 until 2015, and a member of the Selection Committee for Members of the Business Competition Supervisory Commission.[2]

On 16 November 2023, Paripurna was appointed as a Professor of Commercial Law at the Faculty of Law at Gadjah Mada University.[3] He was also appointed as the chairman of KAHGAMA from 2023 until 2028.[2]
