Meta:Requests for adminship
Most requests should be listed here for at least seven days; bureaucrats should only close after the minimum time foreseen in the relevant policy. Discussions are not closed early. Adminship will be granted by a support ratio of at least 75%. If a request hasn't been addressed by a bureaucrat after a lengthy period of time, please leave a note at Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat. Requests may be extended, or put on hold by bureaucrats, pending decision or finding of consensus.
Requests for temporary adminship and bot requests may be less formal and often go for a shorter duration if consensus becomes clear after only a few days of discussion.
All editors with an account on Meta, at least one active account on any Wikimedia project, and a link between the two, may participate in any request and give their opinion of the candidate. However, more active Meta editors' opinions may be given additional weight in controversial cases.
See below for information on prerequisites on submitting a request, and how to add a nomination.
Information
Note that this page is for access on Meta only. See the permission request to stewards page for adminship/deadminship requests on other projects.
Regular adminship
- Before requesting admin access, please check the policy for requesting adminship.
- Use the box below, insert your username:
- Place a request on this page, by transcluding the subpage, for example
{{Meta:Requests for adminship/Username}}. Please put the newest request on the bottom. Bear in mind that even if you do meet the criteria above this does not mean that the community will automatically approve a request. - Please note, past administrators who have given up their rights must meet all criteria at the time of the new request. There is no separate process for reinstating past administrators.
Please note: Ill-considered nominations for adminship can be draining and deflating to both the community and the candidate. Any successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate sufficient experience within the Wikimedia community, in addition to a familiarity with Meta-Wiki. If a candidate is not already a local administrator or holder of advanced permissions on a Wikimedia content project, they are less likely to pass a request for adminship here at Meta-Wiki.
Bureaucratship
Add your request below under the bureaucratship section. Please note:
- Only active administrators can become bureaucrats, and only after at least 6 months of regular adminship.
- User is endorsed by two current bureaucrats after they nominate themselves here.
If you fail any of these requirements, you will not be assigned the bureaucrat flag. For more information see the Meta bureaucrat page.
Other access
For these types of access, create a subpage just as you would for regular adminship and add it to the appropriate section of this page.
- Interface adminship: Please read the Meta interface administrator page. The WMF requires two-factor authentication for this access.
- Limited adminship: If you need sysop access for a particular reason (such as ability to edit protected pages), you may request limited adminship on Meta. If granted, the user understands that they will only be allowed to use the tools for the tasks they were approved, and not doing so will be grounds for immediate removal. Temporary sysop access will normally be valid for one month unless requested and granted otherwise.
- Bot: Please read the bot policy. This wiki allows global bots and automatic approval of certain types of bots; for other bots, add your request below under the bot section, in the same way as an admin request.
- CheckUser: please read the CheckUser policy and add your request below under the checkuser section, in the same way as an admin request.
- Oversight: please read the Oversight policy and add your request below under the oversight section, in the same way as an admin request.
- Translation administrator: please read Meta translation administrator page and Meta’s page about translate extension. No fixed time limit for these requests is defined, and there are no particular requirements; if you provide a valid reason and demonstrate that you know and understand how to prepare pages for translation, your request will most likely be granted.
- CentralNotice administrator: Meta Central notice administrator page grant access to manage and edit banner campaigns. Because of the potentially huge impact of banners on the wikis, this should be granted carefully and sparingly. The WMF requires two-factor authentication for this access.
For these types of access, just ask on Meta request for help from a sysop or bureaucrat page:
- MassMessage senders: please read about MassMessages, and provide a clear reason for requesting access. Specify whether you need it temporarily or permanently.
- Uploaders
- Patrollers
Requests for global renamer permissions are handled at global permission requests to stewards page.
WMF Office Staff and Contractors
- If you are an WMF Official or Contractor and need rights on Meta-Wiki to perform your duties the process is different. Please have a look at the WMF staff userrights policy on Office wiki[restricted access] and follow the procedure described there. If in doubt, please contact Trust and Safety; or send an email to ca

Requests for regular adminship

Hello everyone! My last request for adminship wasn't granted primarily because it was submitted immediately after I received GRN permissions. I received feedback from many users in my last request, and some encouraged me to apply again in two months. That’s why I am submitting my request again now, two months later. I mainly need the rights to address vandals and long-term abusers who frequently target Meta and engage in vandalism across other projects. Additionally, I'll also help in WM:RFH (it may not be necessary, as it is being actively monitored by current sysops), and other necessary tasks (e.g. title/spam blacklist).--🪶-TΛNBIRUZZΛMΛN (💬) 08:46, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
Support Why not? They would probably have a great use of the admin tools as they are often requesting blocks. It has gone some time now since Tanbiruzzaman got GRN, so I don't feel like that's an issue.

Support I have some concerns about the speed I have observed over the past month at GSR, where you have been processing requests very quickly, often within 15 seconds. The majority of these requests were from wikis where you do not have language proficiency, and for most users, it would normally take some time to translate and understand the page content, especially in less obvious cases. I am concerned you might do the same here, so I would suggest taking things a bit slower and asking for help whenever you are unsure ;) – DreamRimmer ■ 14:17, 6 November 2025 (UTC)

Oppose I'm sorry, but
- Most of your requests for local blocks were handled with global locks.
- Your deletion requests tend to be to translation pages, so that can be handled with reversion.*
- Outside of that, your requests for admin actions tend to be sporadic (and updating global blacklists would), and much of that could be resolved in a reasonable amount of time with the admins we already have. Faster than Thunder (talk) 23:43, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
- I disagree with this comment.
- In many RfAs, I have often seen opposition based on the argument that "we already have enough administrators, so no more are needed." I personally do not understand why that should be a valid reason for opposition. On the contrary, having more competent administrators would have a positive impact on the community as a whole.
- Moreover, meta admins and stewards each have their own distinct areas of responsibility. The fact that a local block request was handled by a global lock suggests that the local response came comparatively late. If this candidate were able to act locally before a steward intervenes, that could actually help reduce potential harm.
- As for deletion of translation pages, there are many cases where simple reversion is not sufficient, and intervention from an admin or TA is necessary. Regards,
𝓰𝓲𝓷𝓪𝓪𝓷 (T/C) 14:58, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
Support Trusted user, I think they would be positive overall as meta-admin. I don't really think that the majority of local block requests leading to a lock instead is an issue - it's IMO perfectly fine - and sometimes desirable - to block locally pending a global action, to prevent ongoing abuse, which I imagine the candidate will do if the request is successful. Whether it is productive or not to report in 2 noticeboards, or at meta admins instead of SRG, is a different topic but it would still not make worry about their competence as an admin. --KonstantinaG07 (talk) 14:39, 7 November 2025 (UTC)

Support Lol, I knew this was coming. ;) Anyway, I see them actively tagging pages and reporting LTAs, so why not? They have definitely improved since their previous RFA and they are obviously dedicated to the project. Jianhui67 talk★contribs 18:44, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
Support. I have no objection to granting the administrator toolset to the candidate, as they have taken concerns and feedback into account (from their previous RFA). However, I do share a recent concern raised by DR regarding the rapid processing of requests at GSR. Because of that, I encourage you to take things slowly, especially when performing administrator actions, and to ask other administrators for assistance if you are not sure. Codename Noreste (discuss • contribs) 06:04, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Support and IMO FtT's concern is a moot point per Konstantina. //shb (t • c) 08:02, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Support Regarding Faster than Thunder's opposition: 1. Does not mean that they did anything wrong (in fact, the majority of local blocks are ones that also end up being global, so by your logic we don't need many admins 2. If a user vandalises a translation unit by creating it, the only option is to delete that unit. Otherwise looks good to me. But I also wonder how you can handle deletion requests on GSR in 15 seconds especially when you often need to use a machine translator. Leaderboard (talk) 08:10, 8 November 2025 (UTC)
Support, I do not agree with the rationale that Faster than Thunder explained above. Global sysops often have the required trust to be Meta administrators, so I do not see any concerns regarding this candidate as he is competent in his work. Good luck! I just joined a more global Wikimedia movement and currently interesting in translating several pages from projects from local community in Indonesia so that our projects can be found and understand by a wider Wikimedia community.
I have read and understand the translation administration guideline and Translate extension page, and will follow the best practice guidelines in preparing translation pages and adding translations to the pages here.
One of the example of page that I currently prepare is WikiMaknyus.
Thank you in advance!

I'm requesting CN admin rights so that I can develop and test banners for Wiki Education. (My Wiki Education staff account is User:Sage (Wiki Ed).) The CentralNotice/Usage_guidelines say "We recommend that affiliates or Wikimedia Foundation teams that run more than 2 banners a year, have a CentralNotice admin on staff for organizational requirements." Being able to implement and test banners before making campaign requests will make it practical to prepare the kinds of narrowly geotargeted outreachy campaigns (to college campuses) that Wiki Education wants to explore.
I have experience as an admin on English Wikipedia and Commons, and as an Interface Administrator on English Wikipedia.--Ragesoss (talk) 19:35, 4 November 2025 (UTC)

- Either way would be acceptable, but I would prefer to keep only one account that has advanced permissions, and I can foresee doing CN admin tasks in a volunteer capacity at times as well. Sage (Wiki Ed) (talk) 16:35, 6 November 2025 (UTC)

Greetings,
I'm Paula, a Spanish Wikipedia and Wikidata editor. This is my personal account, but since 2022 I work as the Community Engagement Program Manager for Wikimedistas de Uruguay.
As part of my role, I've requested banners several times per year to promote local and regional activities and campaigns so I'm familiar with the usage guidelines and help page. Also, I've participated in the Central Notice Admin Training this year, and will seek feedback or double-check with other CN admins if I have any questions.
Thank you very much in advance. Regards, --Pablísima (talk) 14:33, 6 November 2025 (UTC)
