Innovative Interstellar Explorer was a NASA study. This study focused on the interstellar medium. It proposes to use a radioisotope thermoelectric generator to power ion engine.

The study proposed a interstellar mission that would leave the Solar System with ion engines. The mission was getting a spacecraft launched in 2014, achieving 200 astronomical units by the year 2031. and maybe 1000 AU after one hundred years after the launch

The rocket would be Delta IV Heavy or Atlas V if it was launched.
